Colegio Hernández S.L

Spain

Colegio Hernández S.L is a private school which receives a state subsidy and belongs to the Regional Networks for Multilingual and Quality Schools. We have Infant, Primary and Secondary educational levels. It is located in the region of Comunidad Valenciana in eastern Spain, in a village of 7400 inhabitants. Its economy is mainly based on agricuture and with the current economical crisir with very high unemployment rates.
As partners in this project we want to approach our school to the European dimension, promote an active citizenship in order to respect cultural differences. As teachers we want to enhance innovation at all levels and promote effective continuous professional development by creating new learning materials and resources and also sharing our concerns with professional from other European school systems. Our staff has lately been recognised with several local and regional Awards for promoting Innovation. Both the School Council and the Parent-Teacher association support our Comenius project. Both of them will be central for our project.
At all our levels we have pupils with specific learning needs , learning disabilities and immigrants from different cultural backgrounds, mainly from Eastern European countries, South America and Morocco, and others at risk of social exclusion. All of them are included in specific plans in order to  avoid social differences. One of our main concerns is to give each one of our students the same opportunities, as well as the same rights and duties and to help them acquire the competences, skills and attitudes necessary to apply for a successful future life and make them aware of their own learning process.
Applying for this project is one of the best ways to get all these aims and of course, a new challenge for all of us.
Our role in the partnership is to coordinate all pupils' contact and exchange of materials, as well as organising the final trip of studetns from all partner schools to N.Ireland in May-June 2014. We will also coordinate ongoing communications and time-management, ensuring we meet agreed deadlines.
